When you start your day with a bulletproof coffee made with organic extra virgin coconut oil, it will  give you lots of energy and it will give your body healthy fats that it will use to make cell walls and hormones.

If you are new to healthy fats or low carb living, when you first try this it can take a week or two for your body to fully adapt to fat digestion. At first it may be a little to rich so maybe start with half a cup initially, then build up to the full amount.

An average cup of bulletproof coffee is around 97% fat, and made from three ingredients: organic coffee beans, grass-fed unsalted butter, and MCT oil (medium chain triglyceride) or coconut oil.

Coconut oil helps to improve the digestive system and thus prevents various stomach and digestion-related problems including Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil have antimicrobial properties and help in dealing with various bacteria, fungi, and parasites that can cause indigestion. Coconut oil also helps in the absorption of other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

Until recently nutritional guidelines generally encourage low consumption of saturated fats, found in butter, cream, cheese and fatty cuts of meat, as these were thought to be linked to increased cholesterol in the blood and an increased risk of heart disease. However researchers currently have and are still looking at large amounts of data and say they have found no significant link between saturated fat and heart disease.

My thoughts on this matter!

Coconut oil is a nutritional dietary oil that is extracted from coconuts. Benefits include antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti fungal and antibacterial properties which come from the presence of caprylic, lauric and caprice acids that are found in the coconut oil and fatty acids like medium chain-triglycerides (MCT).

It is these short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. Coconut oil is often used by athletes, body builders and by those who are dieting. The reason behind this being that coconut oil contains less calories than other oils, its fat content is easily converted into energy, and it does not lead to accumulation of fat in the heart and arteries. Coconut oil helps boost energy and endurance, and generally enhances the performance of athletes.

It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and endocrine system. Further, it increases the body’s metabolic rate by removing stress on the pancreas, thereby burning more energy and helping obese and overweight people lose the weight. People living in tropical coastal areas, who use coconut oil every day as their primary cooking oil, are normally not fat, obese or overweight.

Energy Bulletproof Coffee

A nice energising cup of coffee, a great way to start your day!

Making bulletproof coffee is incredibly simple, but there are a few things you’ll need to know to achieve that perfect cup.

For best results and maximum fat-burning energy, select organic coffee beans and organic coconut oil (or grass-fed unsalted butter).


  • 200ml fresh brewed coffee made with filtered water, just off the boil.
  • 1 tbsp of organic extra virgin coconut oil
  • (optional) add-ins: sweetener, cinnamon, spices, cocoa


  • Add ingredients to your blender or nutribullet and whizz for about 15 – 20 seconds until its frothy like a latte, or blend thoroughly for one full minute to emulsify completely.
  • Blending makes it frothy – you don’t have to blend the coffee to get the amazing health benefits, but it does help with flavor and look (blending makes it look like it’s a cappuccino, otherwise it just looks like oil floating on top!)
  • Enjoy on an empty stomach, before breakfast. This coffee recipe will keep you full for hours!
